Mix/Match Marathon Continues …

That headline is inspired by the fact that my sweet husband is out running a literal marathon, as I am enjoying my third cup of coffee in the hotel cafe, writing this post while awaiting his return.  Each of us believe we have the more desirable experience.  But enough about me … and on to more outfit inspiration…

These 3 outfits obviously weren’t worn on successive days, but I grouped them together for their visual harmony and related elements.  The skirt is one I sewed (Pamela’s Patterns MagicPencil Skirt – in our navy ponte).  The sweater is a long-time favorite in my closet – summer appropriate because the entire body is an open-work knit.  Hopefully you can see that in the third image where I’m holding it open a bit.

The shoe is brand new – replacing a very imilar one that just died after a decade or so of wear.  The pointed toe, low vamp  and sling back styling all serve to elongate my 5’3″ stature.  Its the Unna Pump from Easy Street.  I found it when we were doing a whole segment in our online Community about footwear combining style and comfort.

This “outside column” is such an easy outfit formula.  Just slip in a contrast under-layer top and connect the colors with a scarf or necklace.

#1 – That’s the same kelly green tank I used with the tie-front print shirt in another post and the scarf is from our website shop.

#2 – This under-layer is a hammered “silk” top from Measure & Made, accented with another scarf from our inventory. It’s on sale right now for about ahlf price and a great wardrobe basic for nearly everybody.

#3 – An oldie blush-tone tank (I think both this and the green one are the Microfiber Tank from Chicos – they run a constantly changing range of great colors) with a navy/blush/peri/berry rayon scarf that’s been in my closet for years.

As you can see, tanks and shells like these are great wardrobe extenders. They easily transform an outfit with a pop of color.  And many of them are reversible front-to-back so you have two neckline options.  The Chico ones are a bit firmer stretch.  If you prefer a softer drape and slightly gentler fit, this one from Northstyle is available in an amazing 31 color choices.

I hope my journey to get more use and enjoyment out of my wardrobe items is helping you to do the same in your closet.
