It appears we’ll be wearing masks for months into the future, so let’s do it with intention.  Some like to use a mask as a mini-billboard for their social justice cause.  Others want to match a mask to their outfit of the day.   I like the subtle approach – a plain mask that blends with the natural color of my client’s face.  And I have a favorite now lip stain that won’t come off on a mask.  Read on …

First the mask part.  For those of you with even minimal sewing skills, we’ve put together a 3-mask kit available in 4 different skin tones. Includes:

  • 9×60″ cut of our soft, washable, breathable but dense ponte knit,
  • 9″ length of Magic Elastic (can be cut into 1/4″ strips without ravelling) and
  • 3 nose pieces of firm, bendable metal.

You can use any pattern style you prefer.  Ponte is comfortable against the skin and absorbs a bit of perspiration.  Since the knit fabric doesn’t ravel, you can simply serge the two layers around the edges for a flat, supple finish.

A set of 3 gives you back-up for the recommended laundering.  And color-blending to your skin tone allows others to focus on your eye contact, furthering non-verbal communication and creating relational feelings.   Try yours today.

Lots of you have also asked about lip color that won’t smear on your skin or rub off on the inside of your mask.  My friend and colleague Elaine Stoltz introduced me to her proprietary brand – Lip Stay – a long lasting liquid matte lipstick that “paints your pucker with opaque color”.  The foam applicator makes it easy to create a well-defined lip shape that’s tough to achieve with traditional lipstick.

Unlike other stains I’ve tried, this non-drying formula leaves lips soft, and the color that lasts all day with just a touch-up after lunch.  Eighteen color choices, plus a method to let you sample the color before you order – even long distance.  I’ve been using Posh for an understated look with a bit of shimmer, and Relentless Red for a brighter look with brighter clothing or more definition on ZOOM calls.

Elaine is also a respected color expert, and can help you align your lip color to your Color Fan. Check it out and place orders HERE.

    Hi Nancy,
I have been wearing a batik print mask that has bright navy and purple from my color pallette. It brings out my eye color and I often get compliments on it. I use my mask like a scarf choice and coordinate it with my outfit. Lots of positive compliments! Get those color consults done and you will feel better about how you look!
