Strategic Style

Welcome

Welcome to "Strategic Style".  Unlike most fashion blogs. it doesn’t spotlight how great I look in the hottest seasonal trends. I occasionally use my clothes as examples, but this blog isn’t about ME - or about trends either.

It’s about YOU, and classic design principles to determine wardrobe choices that showcase the fabulous things  about you.  Then you'll shop strategically, dress effortlessly and feel confident about your appearance no matter your lifestyle, age, size or budget.

It is the clothes’ responsibility to make YOU look good  -- not the other way around.  You'll look  best in clothes and accessories that have “points of connection” to you.  The more characteristics in common between you and your clothes, the more fabulous you'll look. Your stuff will look classier too, based on that repetition.

Things that connect with you also connect with one another, creating more mix-and-match than you ever imagined.  Shop less, spend less and feel great about how you look every day. Put wardrobe issues on the back burner and head out the door every day with confidence to play your special role in the world!   Welcome aboard!

But I often get questions about how to wear them.  The good news is that several of my favorite, super-easy techniques for smaller rectangular scarves work equally well for their oversized cousins.  Take a look …

Wk #15 – Undercover Story: Your Best Bottom

Posted in

New Year’s gym memberships notwithstanding, precious few of us are as smooth or toned as we’d like to be, especially from the waist down.  Fortunately we can improve on what Mother Nature (and Father Time … and Sara Lee) have given us – thanks to new developments in under-layer garments. Call them shape-wear, slimmers – whatever – but put one on and you can look subtly trimmer and more sleek. Bumps and bulges are minimized or disappear altogether.  Choose from these categories:

Wk #13 – And What About All the Bright White?

Posted in

What is it about fashion’s obsession with bright optic white?  There are multiple companies devoted entirely to the manufacture and marketing of this supposed Must-Have.  But the crazy thing is that it seriously overpowers the vast majority of women. Need proof?  Check out the collage below.  Ask yourself which woman actually shows up in the photo (CLUE: the cream shell bottom right) and which squares are just pictures of optic white shirts, with the women wearing them virtually unnoticed.
